 Myth 1

drugs and alcohol.jpg

#Homeless Truth: Only 3% of people who sought help from a homelessness service say that drugs and alcohol are the reason they need help (AIHW, 2018).

Some people find that the experience of homelessness is so devastating that they turn to alcohol or drugs in desperation to cope.

Actually the main reasons people identify for being homeless are a lack of housing (35%) and family violence  (38%) (AIHW, 2018).
